The "Thrill" of the Off Season

Posted by Benny Fry on November 27, 2012 at 10:00 AM

First I would like to congratulate Brad Keselowski and Penske Racing on winning their first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series title!

Now that the season is over, this frees up a lot of time I would otherwise be spending on NASCAR. Just this past weekend instead of watching paint swapping door to door fender bending action on the track I was able to go utilize the extra time by going through my underwear drawer and retiring some old past due friends. @pourmemaw & I weren't even thinking about the perfectly executed "bump & run" when we moved on from the underwear drawer to the sock drawer. It's difficult to put into words the feeling of fulfillment I get in being a productive family member rather than wasting away enjoying one Yuengling Lager after another, while some of the most talented drivers in the world attempt to out maneuver each other at speeds approaching 200 MPH on my big screen!

Why just Monday, instead of spending my day on Twitter pissing off Kyle Bush or Jeff Gordon fans because of the previous days racing activities, I was free to spend cyber Monday purchasing a $.99 iphone app! Now that I have freed up time normally spent watching qualifying while grilling a couple Rib Eye steaks and hoisting even more Yuengling Lager, just imagine the warm feeling I could get throwing out some of the science experiments in the fridge!

The many domestic productive opportunities that lay before me between now and The Daytona Shootout on February 16th 2013, are too numerous to list!...Just hope I don't get so absorbed in this domestic bliss that I forget to watch the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Banquet live from Las Vegas hosted by comedian Frank Caliendo on Speed Fryday night at 8PM!.... I have some Yuengling Lager somewhere in that fridge. I should be able to find easily by then!...hehehe.....

That's a good post Benny.....but me being a Kyle Busch fan ,I must say ya have never pissed me off on Monday morning....maybe got my heart racing a little bit faster then normal :) Like I've said in the past if we all liked the same driver or drivers it would just be a boring day. Kinda like politics but hey we're not even going to go there....Being a football fan and my boys not doing so well ( Steelers ) I'm ready for Feb. 16th and the shootout ....miss Nascar already and it's only been a week, man I need some help.

Funny. I watch re-runs of Nascar on the off season every Sunday! I've been taping Nascar since 2003. My wife doesn't watch Nascar but likes Gordon & Johnson. Karen doesn't know about off season cause every Sunday during off season, I throw in a tape, tell her that their racing somewhere warm so I can get out of during work on Sundays all year round. JK. That;s how much I love Nascar, I'd be lost w/o it! This year was a good one. After witnessing the fire at Daytona in the shootout, I knew I was in for a treat. I've been a Jeff Gordon fan since 1995. I love talking Nascar. I have plenty of opinion's and I'll be the first to admit when my Driver#24 is in the wrong, just like I'll be the first to admit when your driver's wrong :) But we should all have a great time watching and discussing the sport. There's much more then going in circles as some people see it. Just take the Gorrdon-Bowyer incident. I get heat about it all the time like it's my fault. But I defend JG 100% & still admit he didn't think big picture almost taking out BK. It was still fun to watch, that's why I love Nascar! Imagine what's in store for 2013. I think we have some new Rival's for next year. I can't wait. Great post Benny.
